Sussanne Roshan and Yash Birla are buying art
‘Famous’ art collectors like Sussanne Roshan, Haseena Jethmalani and Yash Birla have shown interest in acquiring works of masters, a news report states.
A news report by Riddhi Doshi, titled ‘What a bargain artwork!’ in DNA India underlines the fact that in the time of recession, quality works of the modern masters — artists like Husain, Raza, Jehangir Sabavala, Ara, Akbar Padamsee, among others — are in demand again.
A new exhibition ‘Déjà Vu’ now claims to be selling their works at 20 per cent less than the market price. And big art collectors like Sussanne Roshan, Haseena Jethmalani and Yash Birla have shown interest in acquiring works. Quoting a ‘reliable source from the gallery’, the news report mentioned: “Yash, Haseena and Susanne are avid art collectors. They have purchased quite a few art works of the modern masters. From this show all the three have shown particular interest in MF Husain, Ara and Akbar Padamsee’s works. “
The works at this exhibit are available from Rs 3 to 30 lakh. Curator of the show Niyatee Shinde says, “The highlight is artist Souza’s landscape. We’ve seen many of Souza heads but such a serene landscape by him is a rarity.”
